Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can be a good source of damage, more AD or even more attachments.
Sometimes, however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is often surpassed by Rare-grade equipment due to their higher requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be applied to weapons and armor items. They increase the effectiveness of the item they are attached to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at bonfires. They can also be salvaged by using a specialist or higher salvage kits to recover upgrades from the items.
The amount of damage that a piece of armor or weapon can absorb depends on the level of its upgrades. The absorption of damage by an armor piece will increase when it is upgraded to its maximum upgrade level. However, it's important to be aware that this upgrade will increase its weight, which will cause it to weigh more than before.
There are several kinds of armor upgrades available in the game and they all have different effects. For instance, certain upgrades will grant the armor a certain amount of additional health points, while others will make it stronger and lighter. The kind of armor upgrade an item will receive will be indicated by the name of the upgrade, as shown in the table below.
Some of the upgrades also require magic or a hybrid technology and magic, as identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges for use. These are identified as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are continuously updated or never expire based on the upgrade.
The cheapest method of upgrading armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be gathered by exploring the area and looting chests of minor loot. Titanium is more expensive, however, it is available at the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. upgrade item , such as the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant increases in stats and are definitely worth the cost.
The player must be aware, however, that upgrading a piece to the maximum upgrade level will boost its defense. However, it will also affect the speed and agility of the piece. It is not recommended to upgrade armor beyond +9. The added defense typically isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades.
Weapons
Weapon upgrades let players increase the effectiveness of specific aspects of the weapon. For instance an upgrade can increase the damage dealt by the shells of a shotgun or the accuracy of the sniper rifle. Certain weapons also come with enhancements that enhance their intrinsic characteristics. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the speed of projectiles to cause more damage).
The majority of upgrades to weapons require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade for applying. They can be gained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of monsters and bosses.
Upgrading a Weapon, Equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade price of a set number of Bars. The more bars needed to complete an upgrade the higher the level. The cost of the upgrades will be lower if you have more than one of the upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5, the method of upgrading your weapon and equipment sets changed a little. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a certain number of Bars. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level, at which point the upgrades would be reset.
This is still possible, but it depends heavily on RNG. You should consider buying equipment with low levels of upgrade but with high base scores and stat distributions. These gears have a better chance of granting you the highest level of blessings and perks.
Most players will want to make the most of upgrades to weapons they are most likely to use to allow them to progress faster. Additionally players, they should think about upgrading the weapons favored by their squadmates to make them more powerful and effective. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R, which will increase its utility when accompanied by biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels are placed in the armor's sockets and weapons, enhancing a stat and providing secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is a method for making them, where you combine a gemstone with a number specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the jewel the better the secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and, sometimes, by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The quality of a jewel can be improved upon by the Jeweler in stages that range from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts will vary depending on the tier the jewel is in when it is inserted into jewelry, weapons, or other gear.
The Jeweler is able to create the highest levels of gems apart from the rare and legendary ones which require an appropriate level to obtain. Jewels can be replaced with another one without damaging the original. You are able to replace the jewel only once in a piece of equipment.
Utilizing more jewels in a movement can make it feel more comfortable and is usually done to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. The jewels also improve performance and create an outer layer that is more durable than metal so that repeated friction caused by pivots does not cause damage to the movement.
A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs that can enhance the look of your shields and weapons. They offer a small benefit and are able to be swapped easily but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs, just like jewelry, can be upgraded at the Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs can also be taken out, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as traits and aegis are not swappable, and can only be recovered using an Upgrade Extractor, or by salvaging them using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets are items of equipment that offer an array of tiny but valuable advantages to your hero. They can be obtained in the starter areas as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, or by completing road interactions. They can be purchased from the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.
The first trinket players will be able to unlock is the cloak. It grants a small, but useful bonus in speed of movement and the ability to escape. The player can then acquire necklaces, amulets, and rings, in a similar way to how they acquired weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any device. Jewels cannot be upgraded or replaced, and can only be used with certain trinkets.
These trinkets also provide additional buffs and skills that are active even when the character is not fighting. This enables the hero to be more effective when not active and may also help fill in the void of a strong team or any slots in the talent tree that would normally be filled with hero's ideal statistics.
A good general rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you aren't planning to replace soon, followed by any items with desirable stats that are less important than the iLevel of the item that is being upgraded. This is especially true when an item has multiple stats you'd like to upgrade as it's often better to upgrade just one important stat than two sub-optimal ones.
At the beginning of the game, junglers will usually want to upgrade their yellow trinket to a red, while top and middle players usually choose either a pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices can affect the ability of a hero to control the map.
In addition to the things mentioned above, players can find a number of other items in the form of awards and trophies. They can be earned by completing certain milestones within the story, such as the main quest of a chapter or killing a certain boss. These achievements can be seen by selecting the appropriate achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
